School Visits

To get oriented to your school site schedule a tour with Kathryn or your school site contact.

This will help you get familiar with the school layout, office space, available supplies as well as provide an opportunity to introduce yourself to school staff and administration.

Most likely you will regularly interact with office staff and administration to get access to our confidential space and collaborate on the best day and time to meet with your students, therefore, developing these relationships can help build community and teamwork with the school.

Some tips to help you get started on your first day meeting with students include:

  • Bring snacks!

    • Grab some of the snacks available in the CSS kitchen to share with your adolescent clients

  • Just focus on getting to know your client

    • Play a game

    • Ask them about their favorite songs, snack or activities

    • Play the Ungame (find it on the games shelf at CSS)

  • Contact their guardian to schedule an intake (if you haven't already)

  • Contact their teacher to schedule a time to meet to hear their perspective of "the problem"

Sometimes your student may be absent or unavailable to work with. That's okay, you can meet with them the following week or, if you would like, you can try to reschedule the session. If you notice that your student is consistently absent (3 times or more) contact Kathryn to discuss closing the client and receiving a new referral.
